5 Ways I Have Never Recruited An Experienced Real Estate Agent

Recruiting real estate agents is hard work. Recruiting experienced real estate agents is really hard work. Getting a fancy postcard campaign or automatic email drip campaign might make things easier, right? 

It certainly makes activity easier, however I don’t think you will get the results easier. The results only come from one way, hard work

Here are 5 Ways I Have Never Recruited An Experienced Real Estate Agent (I have actually tried them all)

 1. I have never recruited an experienced real estate agent with mailing them a letter(s).

I tried this. I got zero recruits. My own agents would bring me letters that they got from the competition and laugh. “Look at this joke of a letter.” We would throw it in the trash then. Not immediately, but soon after throwing the competition’s letters in the trash I stopped sending letters to agents I had never met.

2. I have never recruited an experienced real estate agent with a post card campaign.

Post card campaign’s are fun if you can convince your broker to spend the money. You get to spend lots of time picking the campaign design, the message, the layout, where should the logo go, etc. It’s a fantastic distraction of getting ready to recruit real estate agents with out actually having to recruit real estate agents.

Just don’t do this. Consumers don’t like it. Real estate agents like it even less, they know what you are doing. I will actually give you fairly decent alternative to this. Join a social network. Myspace. Facebook. ActiveRain. Send personal messages, write on their wall, comment on their blog. Just don’t drip. By the way, what an awful name for a marketing plan. What do you do at home when there is a faucet that drips? Yup, you turn it off. Same thing here.

4. I have never recruited an experienced real estate agent with an advertisement.

Maybe I have never been in the right publication, ran the right ad or did it long enough. Because it’s expensive and I don’t feel the ROI would be justified. I would suggest submitting press releases instead. Not a press release about how great your company is. Submit a press release that offers advice for real estate agents or consumers. (Ex. The Best Day and Time to Hold an Open House.)

5. I have never recruited an experienced real estate agent with a simulator test.

Great tool for weeding out new talent, but if someone is experienced I am not going to insult them by asking them to take a simulator. I’m going to sit down and have a conversation with them about business and life.
